Why So Many People Choose Mati During Intermittent Fasting

Over the past few months, we've noticed something interesting: more and more people are reaching for Mati during their fasting window.

It makes sense. Not every drink fits into an intermittent fasting lifestyle. Many beverages contain sugar, calories or artificial sweeteners that can interfere with your fasting goals.

We wanted to understand exactly why Mati seems to be such a popular choice. So we asked Melissa Monster, founder of Never Nine to Five and an expert in Longevity and Intermittent Living.

What is Intermittent Fasting?

Intermittent Fasting is an eating pattern that alternates periods of fasting with periods of eating. One of the most common approaches is the 16:8 method: fasting for 16 hours and eating within an 8-hour window.

While many people associate intermittent fasting with weight loss, Melissa explains that its benefits go far beyond the number on the scale.

"Intermittent Fasting is a powerful tool to improve metabolic flexibility. It helps your body switch more efficiently between burning glucose and burning fat for energy."

According to Melissa, regular fasting may support:

- Improved insulin sensitivity

- Reduced low-grade inflammation

- Better metabolic flexibility

- Long-term healthy aging (Longevity)

One of the most fascinating processes linked to longer fasting periods is autophagy—the body's natural recycling system, where damaged or unnecessary cellular components are broken down and reused. This process is associated with healthy aging and cellular maintenance.

Why Mati Fits Perfectly Into a Fast

Many people already know that sugary drinks don't belong in a fasting window. What is often overlooked is that many zero-sugar soft drinks aren't necessarily ideal either.

Although they contain little or no calories, they're often packed with artificial sweeteners. Melissa explains that, in practice, she frequently sees people consuming more food throughout the day when regularly drinking artificially sweetened beverages.

"Your brain doesn't really get the satisfaction it's expecting from sweetness without calories, which may lead to eating more later."

That's exactly where Mati is different.

Mati contains:

- No sugar

- No artificial sweeteners

- No calories

- Organic yerba mate for naturally occurring caffeine

This makes it a refreshing option during a fasting period for people who prefer to avoid sweetened beverages while still enjoying a natural energy boost. Alongside water, black coffee and unsweetened tea, Mati can be a suitable drink during a fast.

As Melissa puts it:

"The next time I do a 48-hour fast, I know exactly what I'll be drinking."
